Well hello there!
It’s been a crazy few weeks! I’ve been honored by my favorite non-profit with a featured article on me & my IBD journey. Because of this publication, more patients and parents of patients have been able to find me. So I’ve been busy returning emails and sharing resources and haven’t been able to make an official announcement here. Well, here it is. This is my official thank you to the CCFA for sharing my story and an official welcome to all the new readers and subscribers. Because we have new people stopping by, I want to reintroduce myself and the blog and give you a little insight into why I do what I do.
I am so grateful to CCFA & Lenora Houseworth. The article did a great job of giving a little backstory about how I got started, when I was diagnosed and where I am right now. From Entertainment to Diapers to Blogging, all from the confines of my bathroom or a hospital bed. A lot of people are asking why. Why blog? Why share such a personal journey with thousands of strangers? The answer is pretty simple, there was no one else. I’m not claiming to be an expert on UC or Crohn’s. I’m not a doctor or a pharmacist. To be honest when I was in the middle of my colitis fight, I was sick of hearing from Doctor’s or “experts” that had never had any of my symptoms. I not only wanted to know that I wasn’t alone, but I wanted to know what someone else in my position was doing about their situation. I wanted different ideas and suggestions from personal experience about getting around the obstacles. I wanted another mom or dad with IBD to tell me that it was going to be okay, because they were okay.
I had always blogged, but after my total colectomy I decided to change the direction of my writing and make some real change. Maybe I could help some people in some way. Use the platform for good. So that’s what I do. My goal with The Crazy Creole Mommy Chronicles is to share my life as it is, I’m a single mother with an active child who happens to have a challenge. There are things I’ve found that work for me with having to use the bathroom all the time, painful & stiff joints and so I’m sharing them with everyone else.
Please take a look around at some of the past posts with product information, local hangout spots and funny stories! And stay tuned for more to come. I have some giveaways & twitter parties coming up, I’d love for you to join me! I thank you so much for reading and subscribing. Please come back now ya hear?!
xoxo
