This weekend is pretty bogged down with Super Bowl & Mardi Gras weekend fun! But if you are in Los Angeles, there are some pretty awesome things you can do with the kiddies. Or just by yourself, if you were me 7 years ago…or now…whatever! It’s gonna be a sweet weekend if you can swing it! Literally!
First up Saturday is the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck! Dude, six year, Brooke just did 8 cartwheels and clicked her heels together. But since I am 32 year old, Brooke. So, I just went into my room and did an Irish jig and the running man for a brief celebration. And because 6 year old, Brooke cannot go, 32 year old, Mommy is taking, 6 year old, Hippo to the truck. Now, before you get all crazy talking about he’s gonna be bored out of his mind, you should know that The Hippo is a fan of The Hello Kitty! Oh yea! I mean why wouldn’t he? I mean, the kid has great taste! Really, I think it comes from when I was in the hospital. Jax knew I loved Hello Kitty, so while I was in the hospital, he would pick out balloons and stuffed animals that were all HK to send to me while I was in the hospital. It just became another thing to bond over while we were so far away from each other.
I’m sure you’re like, why the heck would I want to go to the Hello Kitty Truck? Well, here’s the thing. You either love, HK or you don’t. If you love her, you always love her. I can’t explain it! It is what it is. All I know is, I’m heading to Irvine Spectrum Center to eat some yummy HK donuts, cookies & mini cakes! They also have mugs, t-shirts and other fun retail items. What I’m hoping and thinking might happen is that this is a test run and prequel to a brick and mortar Hello Kitty Cafe here in Los Angeles! But in the meantime, we can get some wonderful novelty treats to share with the kids…or your best friend of 18 years that is as in love with HK as you are *cough* SAM *cough cough*! If you see me, come up and say, Hi!

The second event that is pretty frickin’ awesome, is The LA Cookie Con. I had to miss this event, but I am definitely going this year. It’s a weekend long event of yummy treats from a variety of vendors and a couple of master classes. There will also be celebrity baking speakers with advice and demos. Celebrities like my man, Duff! We’ve all been watching him and his team bake incredible pieces of art for years now, so it will be exciting to see the legend in person. Listen, I won’t lie, I am a Food Network junkie! It goes beyond my love for cooking and food. When I was a little girl, I spent every weekend with my grandma, Cleonia. And we would watch cooking shows with people like Julia Childs & Yan Can Cook every weekend. Then came Emeril Lagasse and Iron Chef, The Food network became a staple channel in my life. So, events like these with celebrity chefs and bakers, are a bit exciting. I know a lot of actors and rock stars…but people who make yummy art? No, don’t know a lot of those guys! So, excuse the twinkle in my eye when it comes to these dudes!
Now, tickets are sold out. BUT…they often come up with last minute tickets, so I would keep an eye out for those! You don’t wanna miss the goodies!
