Surviving SoCal’s Version of Fall

Posted on October 4, 2014 By Brooke Abbott

Apparently it’s Fall. But I am afraid Los Angeles has yet to receive the memo. You see even though we pass by the Gap store fronts with it’s beautiful Fall collection and we drink our pumpkin spice lattes and we watch the wind blow across the football fields, we are still doing all this from our air conditioned homes and vehicles. And guess what? It’s only going to get hotter! That’s right, it’s suppose to reach 100 by Sunday. Now I already have a hard time staying hydrated on regular days…and then you gotta tack on some heat that makes it hard for a regular person to stay hydrated. So what do you do?

Hydrate! Hydrate! Hydrate! How? I have my own Triangular Formation to combat dehydration:

Smart Water or Zoe Water

Gatorade

Coconut Water

Use them in different forms. Make ice with Smart Water. Drink Zoe Water cool. Make Gatorade ice cubes. Have treats made with coconut water or Coconut milk. Drink more than you eat in the day and make it count. Drink and consume items that will help you gain electrolytes.

My son plays sports on the weekends, so staying indoors is not an option this weekend, but carefully packed snacks, cooling supplies, etc. will help. It’s essential! Especially right now while I experience an episode of pouchitis. Cut the coffee & juice intake, and replace with gatorade. Sorry, no Pumpkin Spice Lattes this weekend!

She stood up for her dad & other Parkinson’s Disease Patients without hesitation. And when her…

When people learn about my childhood and my parents involvement in the entertainment business, they expect a Lindsay Lohan-esque horror story. I can totally see what they’re imagining too. There’s one of those super 8 flicker in an orange hazy color images. Starring roaming the canyons with other hooligan hollywood…

We’ve landed. These Dems are in Philly. Oh, that’s the hashtag, #DemsInPhilly, for the DNC. Not all has been enjoyable. We had a crazy, serious, 4 hours too long, situation with a rental car company. our flight took off super late. But then we got to the hotel and had…
